Code Excursion is an initiative where 15 women meet once a week while following an online fullstack developer course. The focus of Code Excursion is to learn together in a helpful, passionate and including community. Throughout the course we will finish 13 projects, learn HTML, CSS, JS, Node, databases, make real web-applications and more!
Code Excursion is an created by women for women with Datatjej and Knackeriet as sponsors. It is an initiative that is co-created of all the participants.
If you are interested in future events, go to our website www.code-excursion.com.
If you want to help us during the weekly meetups, perhaps talk about something tech-related or just help-out, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact us if you have any other questions regarding this event, maybe you want to sponsor this awesome thing or just say hi. Please do!
This initiative was created because we felt there was a lack of free web development courses available. For us who want to learn but do not have the money to pay for an expensive course.
The goal is that after the course is done all of the participants will have done their first paid freelance coding job. Of course with the pepp and support from the rest of the group :) 94% of the students go on to get full-time developer jobs after having completed the online-course we are following.
The last day for registration is the 1st of September and we will start the course and weekly meetings at the 14th of September.
We will meet at the beloved co-working space Knackeriet in Gamla Stan, Svartmangatan 9.
We will start the course with a kick-off evening Thursday the 14/9 between 17-20. There we will get to know each other and make sure we all get set up with no problem and ready to start.
After that we will meet every Thursday between 17-20.
We will also have a slack channel and facebook-group were we help each other throughout the week. Furthermore we will have help from a professional developer if we get stuck.
Remember that this is a co-created event which means that all participants are a part to making this work :) If a participant have an idea of an event or project for the group they are very welcome to make it real! Or if someone feel like they are missing something, just go ahead and fix it.
In Code Excursion you will follow an online-course designed for the complete beginner, yet it covers some of the most exciting and relevant topics in the industry.
Throughout the 6 months we will learn tools and technologies including:
The goal is that the group will continue to learn and grow as developers long after the course ends.
Nothing! It's completely free thanks to Datatjej, our awesome sponsor. But we can only have 10 people so make sure to sign up as soon as possible if you are interested.
That is fine. Of course we hope that you can join as much as possible but if you miss a meeting, no worries!
Sure you are! Anyone can join, the less you know the more we will have to help each other, which is what we’re all about. As long as you have the energy and passion to learn you are qualified!
Yes of course. If you have done coding before you might have an easier time in the beginning of the course but there is still more to learn. It´s only a good thing if we are all on different levels of mastery so we can share our knowledge with each other.
This will not be a full-time course but rather something you do on your free-time. Some of us will be full-time students and other will have regular jobs.
The course will start 14th of September and go on till we finish. We meet once a week at 17-20.
Yes! The plan is that snacks and drinks will be available on the meetings :)
Happy psychology student in Stockholm with a big passion for personal development, entrepreneurship and nature. Camping, hiking and biking makes my day :)
I discovered coding when our startup suddenly stood without a developer and to my surprise I'm hooked. I value relations high and always try my best to see challenging situations as empowering.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
I am a curious, cheerful and creative swiss who wants to learn something new every day. I think being liminal is normal and slash-career should be a word in the dictionary. I very much appreciate hanging out with inspiring and passionate people, hence I am happy while travelling, discovering new things as well as while spending time outdoors.
I started coding when I first came to Stockholm a year ago. I realised quite quickly that it would be so nice to have a bunch of supporting people around who encourage me to continue and help with coding problems as well as through times with less motivation or time to keep on going. Don't hesitate to send me a mail if you have any questions!
